Public KB: Steps to configure IPFW wireless on Mac OS 10.6.

  1. Locate the AirPort icon in the Menu bar.
  2. Click on the AirPort icon and ensure AirPort is ON.
  3. Click Open Network Preferences...

  4. Click AirPort then click Advanced.

  5. Click 802.1X.
  6. Click the Plus (+) icon > Add User Profile.

  7. Name the profile IPFW-WRLS and fill in the following information:
    1. User Name: Your IPFW Username
    2. Password: The same password you use for my.IPFW
    3. Uncheck TTLS from the Authentication list.
    4. Ensure PEAP is checked.
    5. Select IPFW-WRLS from the Wireless Network drop down.
    6. Ensure Security Type is WPA2 Enterprise.
    7. Click OK.

  8. Click Apply.
  9. Select IPFW-WRLS from the Network Name drop down.

  10. A Verify Certificate popup will show up > click Show Certificate.
  11. Check the Always trust box and click Continue.
    1. Note: You may have to accept multiple certificates.

  12. Enter in your Mac’s login Name and Password when prompted.
  13. Click OK.

Note: If you are prompted to accept an additional certificate after attempting to authenticate, go through steps 10-13 again.
